Job Description:

As the Senior Credit & Collections Representative, you will improve the delinquency metrics while providing superior customer service to both internal and external customers. You will support revenue growth while safe-guarding company assets. You will be responsible and accountable for the collections activity and credit risk assessment of Staples customers including mid market, large and strategic customer accounts. Additional responsibilities include relationship management, negotiation, reporting, customer service and problem resolution. Each day will be challenging, fast paced, meaningful and rewarding.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the contact/liaison for the assigned account portfolio. Communicate timely and relevant information to Customer Care, Sales and/or Operations.
  • Perform complex account reconciliations with a view to resolution of a full range of possible issues/challenges.
  • Review orders regularly on credit hold and take appropriate steps to resolve as authorized.
  • Create month end reporting and regular review of assigned account portfolio with Manager.
  • Analyze portfolio to determine the appropriate use and timing of collection letters for large and strategic customers.
  • Review/recommend credit limits to increase/decrease, suspend credit privileges and reinstatement of credit privileges.
  • Communicate/escalate credit concerns as required with accounts that present credit risk/loss, require credit hold or third-party collection.
  • Collect and follow up on aged accounts receivables, monitor payment trends and affect corrective measures for overdue accounts as required.
  • Ensure the customer operates and maintains their credit account within terms and conditions of sale/service or contract.
  • Engage in special projects or assignments to support the team, business and management.
  • Provide collection support and training to new associates.

Job Requirements:

  • Certificates or Related Courses
  • 6-8 years of experience
  • Proficient computer skills with Excel, Outlook and collection software.
  • Strong detail orientation and accurate data entry skills.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • High School Diploma
  • Associate or Technical Degree
  • Demonstrated strength in negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, while supporting team initiatives/objectives and meeting deadlines.
  • Bilingual work experience is an asset – fluent in English and French
  • Previous experience in related position and enrolled in or completed C.C.P. Designation program
