Job Description:

To put the customer requirements at the centre of the brands and concessions offer and sell ranges that offer a point of difference and compliment the core New Look range. To develop and deliver a commercial and profitable range that maximises sales opportunity. Work closely with the Head of Brands & Concessions, with the objective to build, manage and report on the performance of the brands and product offer across the New Look stores and online. To achieve this, the role will co-ordinate all aspects of buying in this this function, with the aim to maximise profit and deliver the Brands and Concessions strategy.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct contract negotiations with concessions partners and subsequent amendments to initial contracts
  • Finalize concession agreements negotiating commission rates, minimum guarantees, shop fit and marketing contributions
  • Visit trade shows and undertake sourcing trips (post Covid-19 rules)
  • Negotiate contracts with new brands to meet P&L requirements
  • Select product to create the brands and concessions offer
  • Apply a broad knowledge of the current competitive market place and trends to drive the direction of the business
  • Agree grow/hold/decline/exit strategies for suppliers
  • Create buying plans at department level
  • Apply New Look brand and sub-brand strategy to product and range decisions within brands and concessions
  • Review profitability of current supplier base
  • Manage commercial performance of a portfolio of brands and products with a focus on enhancing performance of the customer offer on an ongoing basis
  • Identify new brands, new trends and new products for stores and online
  • Understand the New Look Business Strategy and how that impacts on Brands and Concessions.
  • Plan and launch new products with a view of maximising performance of all launches.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
  • Pro-active, entrepreneurial, self-starter who can identify opportunities and pursue them
  • A minimum of +3 years spent as an Assistant Buyer (or equivalent)
  • Relevant Own Label/Brand/Concession experience
  • Conduct regular performance meetings with the brands in a way that fosters open and honest feedback and two-way communication
  • Previous experience in sourcing product and negotiating with suppliers
  • Strong commercial acumen and savvy; comfortable with numbers and analytics
  • Communicate key brand and product information with key departments across the business (Retail, Merchandising, Central Planning, E-commerce, Marketing and Learning & Development)
  • Create joint brand and product marketing plans with other departments such as Digital, PR, Internal & External Communications
  • Passion for the apparel industry, brands and products
  • Gather competitor data and review competitor activity. Utilise all available market data trends and assess competition to ensure delivery of optimum product offer
  • Work collaboratively with other departments through strong communications and planning
