We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as a Quantum Computing Research Scientist, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets. As part of the Global Digital Innovation team HSBC will offer you an incredible opportunity to find commercially viable applications for qubits and small scale quantum processes. This role will allow you to rapidly establish yourself as a quantum computing expert in the domain of Financial Services.

Job Responsibilities:

• Communicate progress and disseminate results
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert for your area, provide knowledge sharing sessions and thought leadership
• Carry out original research, based both on your own ideas and relevant areas of the bank that may benefit from quantum advantage
• Author manuscripts and see them through the publication process
• Lead / support grant proposals

Job Requirement:

• Knowledge of research topics in quantum information and quantum algorithms
• Programming experience in quantum algorithms
• Educated to PhD level in Quantum Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
• Familiarity with NISQ devices and implementation of quantum algorithms on such hardware
• Published research in at least one of the aforementioned topics
